I saw a bunch of interviews with you and noticed, that those smartass music journalists are really getting on your nerves, when it comes to influences and inspiration.
So heres the solution to just wrap those needless conversation about your influences and inspiration up:
Tell them you are postmodernist, and there would be no more to say. I tell you, if you sell it to them, they will buy in and leave you alone. They probably wont stop comparing you to others, but maybe they'll quit imputing you to copying contamporary or any other given musician of the past 40, maybe even 50 years. Tell them you are postmodernist and thats it, "deal-with-it". The term copying or "being influenced" doesnt exist in postmodernism. There is only intertextuality, be it aimously or unconciously. Tell'em this.
And believe me Lykke, in my opinion, you got the potential to finally awake the spirit of postmodernism that should be - if the theory is correct - innate to contemporary popmusic. This is really overdue.
So you will be able to kill 2 birds with one stone:
No more blathering about you "wanting to sound like or being influenced so much and blabblabla" AND you taking up the cause to spread postmodernism over popculture like no musician before. Id even dare say, that you got the responsibility to be the Postmodern-Pop-Prophet. However, you are extraordinarily postmodernist without trying to be and thats what is really cool about you. You just being you, making music, loving, suffering, feeling, understanding, falling, rising and in the process producing something of immensive creative power.
If you are interested in the kind of stuff I'm talking about, you gonna see me at fm4 frequency. And you are going to recognize me.
So keep on have fun. Currently Im getting deep into touch with your latest album ;)
